Do I need any experience to start training at Madrid Jiu Jitsu?

Not at all. Most of our members started with zero experience. Our classes are structured so beginners learn alongside experienced students in a supportive environment. Your coach will meet you exactly where you are and help you build from there.

What should I expect at my first visit?

You'll meet with a coach, tour the academy, and talk about your goals. If you're ready, you can observe or participate in a class that same day. There's no pressure — the intro session is free and designed to help you see if this is the right fit.

What should I wear and bring to class?

Accepted Answer

For your first visit, wear comfortable athletic clothing — a t-shirt and athletic shorts or pants work great. We train in the Gi (traditional uniform) and No-Gi, but you don't need to purchase a Gi right away. Bring water and a towel. We'll let you know about gear once you're ready to commit.

Is Jiu Jitsu good for getting in shape and losing weight?

Absolutely. Jiu Jitsu is a full-body workout that builds strength, endurance, flexibility, and mental toughness. Many of our members have achieved significant body transformations while learning a practical skill. It's more engaging than a traditional gym because you're solving problems, not just counting reps.

Where are you located and is there parking?

We're located at 8240 E Gelding Dr #115 in Scottsdale, AZ 85260 — right in North Scottsdale. There's free parking available on-site in the plaza lot, so getting here is easy.

What ages do you accept for kids and teen programs?

Accepted Answer

Our Children's Jiu Jitsu program starts at age 4, with classes divided into 4–8 and 9–12 age groups for focused instruction. Teens ages 13–17 train in our Teen program, which bridges the gap between youth and adult classes. Every age group gets curriculum designed specifically for their developmental stage.
